What to Expect in Our Babies and Kids Swimming Class

Our babies and kids swimming classes are designed to provide a safe, fun, and enriching experience for your little one.

Class Structure

We do not believe in structured programmes as we embrace and celebrate that every child is different. Nonetheless, we do follow a structured format to maximise safety and learning. Here’s a quick overview:

  • Warm-up: Each session starts with a gentle introduction to the water, helping your child get comfortable and relaxed.

  • Main activities: The bulk of the swimming class involves fun exercises aimed at teaching basic water skills such as floating, kicking, and basic paddles.

  • Cool down: The class wraps up with calm activities to ease the children out of the swimming environment, reinforcing a positive experience.

Babies & Kids Swimming (2)

Type of Swimming Classes

  • Aqua Tub® (0-3 Months): In your infant’s first swimming experience, Aqua Tub® gently introduces them to the water in the comfort of your own home. Ideal for preemies, special needs, and distressed babies, these guided sessions in a bathtub promote relaxation and water familiarity.

  • Aqua Touch® (6 weeks – 5 months): Aqua Touch® sessions help infants get comfortable in the water through parent-led massages and gentle movements. These activities not only improve sleep cycles but also enhance motor skills in a soothing, multisensory environment.

  • Aqua Infant (2-6 Months): Building a strong foundation for water confidence, Aqua Infant includes sensory-rich parent-infant water time, smoothly transitioning your baby to the more independent Aqua Babies level.

  • Aqua Babies (6-12 Months): In Aqua Babies classes, your little ones gain independence by safely exploring underwater in a play-based setting. Using toys and props, these classes foster curiosity and encourage small steps toward swimming independently.

  • Aqua Tots (1-2 Years): Aqua Tots introduces basic pool safety and skills necessary to swim short distances confidently. Through fun games that involve gliding and kicking, toddlers learn essential safety skills.

  • Aqua Big Tots (2-3 Years): Aqua Big Tots classes help toddlers explore buoyancy through songs and games with light parental support. As toddlers’ water competence grows, parents transition to a supervisory role, preparing swimmers for Level 3 survival tests.

  • Aqua Kids (4-7 Years): Aqua Kids classes refine fundamental swimming skills, focusing on breathing, floatation, and gliding before progressing to different swimming strokes. By the end of Level 4, children are ready for the SwimSafer test and STA Certification, having mastered all necessary strokes and completed the Survival Series. There are also different levels as the child progresses.

Types of Activities Included

We incorporate a mix of fun and educational activities in our swimming classes for both infants and older children in Singapore, ensuring every session enhances comfort and builds confidence in the water. Here are some of the core activities included in the classes:

  • Water Adjustment: Helping young babies and children acclimate to the water’s feel and temperature, which is essential for their comfort.

  • Gentle Floating: Assisting kids in experiencing buoyancy with support, fostering a sense of security.

  • Basic Kicking and Splashing: Encouraging natural movements that children often enjoy, aiding in their motor development.

  • Guided Water Play: Using toys and games designed for water interaction to make learning fun and engaging.

  • Parent and Child Bonding: Activities that involve close contact, enhancing the trust and connection between parent and child.

  • Breath Control: Teaching basic breath control techniques to help children become more comfortable with submersion.

  • Safety Skills: Introducing essential water safety skills, such as holding onto the pool edge and safe entry and exit from the water.

  • Swim Practices: Introducing a series of swim practices to be proper strokes ready.

Duration and Frequency of Classes

Our infant and baby swimming classes are 30 minutes each, while our kids’ swimming classes are 45 minutes. We offer most of our classes daily, providing a wide range of options to fit your schedule. If a class is full, please let us know, and we can add you to the waitlist.

Group Size and Age-Specific Classes

Our infant and baby swimming classes are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 5-6 students per class. For kids’ swimming classes, the limit is 4 students per class. These classes are designed for children from 8 weeks to 7 years old, ensuring developmental appropriateness and safety.

Safety Measures and Precautions

Keeping your child safe during our swimming classes is our top priority. All our female coaches are internationally certified instructors with specialised training in water safety and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to provide the best care and instruction.

Hygiene measures

Our indoor salt chlorinated heated pool is regularly cleaned and maintained to meet strict hygiene standards. Moreover, we conduct frequent water quality assessments and use safe, effective cleaning products to ensure the environment remains pristine and healthy for all participants.

Parent Participation and Supervision Guidelines

We strongly encourage parental involvement in our swimming lessons to enhance the learning experience. This direct involvement helps to reinforce safety practices, provides emotional support, and fosters a deeper parent-child connection as these little ones develop new skills. Our instructors are also there to guide both parents and children, ensuring that each session goes smoothly.
