Aqua Babies (6-12 Months)

Aqua Babies Level 1, you get to watch your baby grow up in the water! Between the ages of 6m – 12m, babies are developing very quickly into little toddlers – Aqua Babies accompanies their growth by providing them ample opportunities to safely explore and play, with gentle support by parents. Through this play-based and child-led approach, babies get more comfortable in various positions in the water, and pick up safety skills along the way. As babies gain independence over the course of the class, flotation devices are introduced, allowing older babies more freedom to explore with parents’ support. When babies are fully comfortable with supported gliding underwater, babies and parents move on to Aqua Babies Level 2.

Aqua Babies Level 2 is for babies who are already comfortable with and enjoy gliding underwater. The progression of the swimming class is informed by babies’ curiosities – about what they can do in the water, and what they can do with their parents in the water. More explorations underwater (and deeper too!) are possible in Level 2, with toys and props to add to the fun! The use of songs and rhymes continue to set the mood for dynamic and imaginative play in the water. Parents support babies by being their springboard and safe place.

Aqua Big Tots (2-3Y)

In Aqua Big Tots Level 1, toddlers aged 2 to 4 years old will explore the water’s qualities and their own buoyancy in the water through song and games, with light support from you. Basic safety skills will be introduced to accompany your toddler’s water exploration. These classes will help your toddler to gain confidence and feel more secure in the water, and learn to move across the pool with floatation devices and glide underwater unsupported. Basic safety swimming skills are introduced to accompany the Aqua Big Tots’ water exploration. Consistency in swimming lessons is critical for the Big Tots to feel secure in the water to move across the pool with flotation devices and glide underwater unsupported. After which, they can move on to Aqua Big Tots Level 2.

Aqua Big Tots Level 2 have more adventurous play in the water, and require more safety skills to swim and play safely. With their physical development and water confidence, they are ready to take on longer stretches of swimming and more complex swimming games, such as swimming through a submerged hoop and picking up toys from the pool floor. Swimming skills that help them with water safety and survival include turning underwater to swim back to the poolside and floating independently for short stretches of time. Aqua Big Tots Level 2 swimmers may move on to Aqua Big Tots Level 3 or Aqua Kids 4-7 years, depending on their age, physical development, and skills acquired.

Aqua Big Tots Level 3 is an additional skills level for toddlers who are ready for and enjoy advanced practice. Through song and games, toddlers will practice various rotations that help with floating and safety skills. There will also be lots of different water adventures they will have underwater, eg. picking treasures, accompanied by the requisite safety lessons. Water safety swimming lessons are of foremost importance for this group, as well as adult supervision. Their confidence and competence need to be paired with a respect for water and its qualities, and that respect is to be honed in partnership with parents. While parents continue to support the young swimmers in class and partner them in fun and games, they begin to supervise more than assist. Aqua Big Tots swimmers can take water survival tests and will be able to move up to Aqua Kids Level 2 independent classes once they are developmentally and emotionally ready.

This lays a strong foundation for water comfort and confidence, by forming lovely memories in the water for families. Infants also experience different positions in the water, supported by the gentle touch of their parents. With regular infant-parent water time, infants move on smoothly to the next level, Aqua Babies Class, in line with their developmental milestones. We use rhythmic flow and breathing exercises with the baby. Useful for preemies, special needs, distress babies, or parents who want the babies to relax in the comfort of warm water. Babies will be relaxed, enjoy a better sleep and feeling the reconnection back to the womb.

Aqua Tots (1-2Y)

Aqua Tots Level 1 is designed as a swimming lesson for toddlers 1-2 years old, who may be new to the water, but not for long! With regularity and a dose of fun, toddlers get accustomed to the water environment and form splashy and joyful memories with parents. Songs and rhymes set the scene for water-based games and explorations. Toddlers in this age range enjoy make believe and are raring to go! Level 1 swimming lessons gives them many opportunities to explore independently in the water and to pick up basic safety rules around the pool. Not only are they able to grasp the safety rules, their young age and increased mobility makes them most in need of these safety lessons. Toddlers move onto Level 2 swimming class after they have fully grasped the safety rules, are able to move across the pool with flotation devices, and glide underwater unsupported.

Aqua Tots Level 2 is designed for children who are already water confident and swim short stretches happily on their own, under the careful watch of their parents. In Level 2 toddlers swimming class, children and parents partner in swim games that give plenty of opportunities and exercises for more gliding, kicking and peddling around the pool and between parent and the poolside. Safety skills are still the priority and will be reinforced in the swimming classes.

Aqua Kids (4-7Y)

Aqua Kids Level 1 is a class for young swimmers between 4 to 7 years old, who are beginning their independent water adventures towards being competent swimmers. This class provides the basics that your child will need, including comfort and safety in the water, skills in breathing, submersion, rotation, floatation and gliding. Your child will also learn about their buoyancy and gravity in the water, and build up a strong foundation to begin stroke preparation. Aqua Kids Level 1 lays a strong foundation for young swimmers to begin strokes preparation.

Aqua Kids Level 2 is a swimming class for young swimmers who already enjoy the water and have basic skills in moving safely and independently in the pool. This group still requires close supervision, even if they seem competent. Aqua Kids Level 2 builds on the confidence the swimmers already have, to equip them with survival skills, more complex underwater maneuvers, and skills for swimming longer distances. The class brings games, water fun and strokes preparation for an enjoyable and practicefilled class. Once swimmers have strong foundations in kicking body positioning and floating, and are able to swim 10m – 15m (any way), they can move on to Aqua Kids Level 3.

Aqua Kids Level 3 are designed for swimmers who are moving from strokes preparation to being competent in the strokes. At this level, swimmers work on integrating the various aspects of each stroke accurately, such as the rhythm of breathing with the coordination of arms and legs. After which, swimmers are able to increase the distance of their swim to 20m and more. More water survival skills are taught in age-appropriate ways, so the swimmers are not only able to be safe, but to be saved, in times of trouble in the water.
