STA International Baby &
Pre-School Teacher Training

STA’s International Baby & Pre-school Teacher  Training Course provides aspiring swim teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach swimming lessons for babies between ages 0 and 4 years old. On successful completion of the course, you will be issued with an internationally recognised STA International Baby and Pre-school Teacher Certificate, which allows you to conduct swimming lessons thereafter. No previous teaching experience is required.

STA’s International Swimming Teacher Course provides aspiring swim teachers with the knowledge and practical skills to teach swimming to children and adults. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued with a STA International Swimming Teacher Certificate, an internationally recognised certification which qualifies you to conduct swimming lessons for non-swimmers, beginners, improvers and advanced swimmers thereafter

STA International Baby & Pre-School Teacher Training Course

STA’s International Baby & Pre-school Teacher Training Course provides aspiring swim teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach swimming to children between ages 0 and 4 years old. On successful completion of the course, you will be issued with an internationally recognised STA International Baby and Pre-school Teacher Certificate, which allows you to conduct swimming lessons thereafter. No previous teaching experience is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and hold a STA membership.

The STA International Baby & Pre-school Teacher training course is the first step to begin your career as a swimming teacher for the younger children! Recognised internationally, allowing you to take your swimming teacher career around the world.

What can I do after I get my qualification?
You will be able to gain employment as a Baby and Preschool swimming teacher, teaching a range of babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, 0 – 4 years old, with their accompanying adults throughout the course. You will also have access to free online support and resources, and your course resource manual will also double as a guide throughout your swimming teaching journey.

On successful completion of the course, learners will be issued with a STA International Baby and Pre-School Teacher Certificate.

On successful completion of the course, learners will:

Understand the role of a baby and pre-school teacher

  • Understand and be able to plan baby and pre-school lessons
  • Be able to produce a scheme of work and lesson plan
  • Be able to teach baby and pre-school aquatic activities and the correct holds
  • Understand and be able to evaluate a baby and pre-school lesson
  • Understand the benefits of baby and pre-school swimming
  • Know the hygiene and safety requirements for baby and pre-school swimming
  • Understand the importance of communication within a baby and pre-school lesson
  • Know the stages of child development.

Duration: 5-Days
Timing: 9am to 6pm / 12pm to 9pm
Day 1: Zoom Learning, 9-6pm
Day 2-4: Practical and theory, 12-9pm
Day 5: 9-6pm, Assessment day

5-day course: $1950 (Singaporeans/ PRs on grants up to 70%)

Requirements
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and have a current membership of STA.

*All pre-requisites must be in place before the start of the course. Qualification certificates cannot be issued if all pre-requisites are not met before the course starts. Post course submissions will not be accepted.

Assessment

  • Learners will be assessed on their theoretical knowledge and practical teaching
  • Learners must correctly answer 7 out of 10 verbal questions, complete 1 lesson plan and 1 scheme of work to the satisfaction of the tutor. Throughout the course, learners will undertake practical teaching on a range of babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers in an adult and child setting.
  • For the practical assessment, learners are required to teach a 15-minute swimming lesson to a small group in pairs. The lesson must be taught independently by the learner without prompting or guidance from the tutor.
  • The course will be held over the period of 5 days, daily attendance is compulsory.

STA International Swimming Teacher Training Course

STA’s International Swimming Teacher Course provides aspiring swim teachers with the knowledge and practical skills to teach swimming to children and adults. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued with a STA International Swimming Teacher Certificate, an internationally recognised certification which qualifies you to conduct swimming lessons for non-swimmers, beginners, improvers and advanced swimmers thereafter. Applicants must be 16 years old and hold STA membership.

The STA International Swimming Teacher course is the first step to begin your career as a swimming teacher! Recognised internationally, allowing you to take your swimming teacher career around the world.

You will be able to gain employment as a swimming teacher, teaching from non-swimmers to improver participants. You will also have access to free online support and resources, and your course resource manual will also double as a guide throughout your swimming teaching journey.

If you wish to expand your swimming teaching portfolio, you may wish to obtain the Baby and Pre-School Award qualification too.

On successful completion of the course, learners will:

  • Understand the role of a swimming teacher
  • Understand and be able to plan swimming lessons

  • Be able to teach the four key strokes
  • Be able to teach advanced swimmers rescue and survival skills including water safety skills
  • Understand and be able to evaluate a swimming lesson
  • Understand the different types of swimmer
  • Understand swimming teaching strategies and methodology
  • Understand different methods of communication
  • Know the hygiene and safety requirements for swimming lessons
  • Understand the scientific principles relevant to swimming.
